THE PRIEST OF SANTA MARIA - ( CHAPTER 49 ) - { PT. 9 }

 ( CHAPTER  49 )  -  { PT.  9 } - His hand made a desperate crawl to Christiano's face and futilely pulled on his skin, but the life force that resided inside him was abandoning his body with the indifference of a drifting cloud. His eyes glazed over. His grip barely a touch. The deck rumbled, and another explosion ripped through the ship. A loud creaking noise from above sent a large piece of rigging crashing down on the cargo container. The ship careered to the right, and Christiano's grip was lost. Kristoff gasped for breath as a large influx of smoky air was sucked into his lings. The container gave way and squealed all the way down to the sea. Both men instinctively grabbed hold of the large people that had dropped down. They stared at each other as they clung for their lives. You nearly had me. Kristoff coughed up his words. You would have been the first. And the last, replied Christiano. Kristoff sniggered. You will find that I am like a cat with nine lives. God has blessed this mission and keeps me safe to fulfil his deeds. God plays no role in your depravity. You follow a madman with his own agenda. You believe the lies he spins because you think it will save you, but it won't. Kristoff's eyes pierced Christiano like daggers.
