The creature opened his eyes in a daze and found himself staring into the face of the little girl. She smiled at him in adoration. The children gasped as they crowded round with baited breaths. Aker, open your hands, she said. Aker did as instructed. The bird fidgeted, lifted its wings and hopped to a standing position in his palms. He pecked his head towards the little girl and brushed her cheek with his beak. You're welcome, she said. Go fly and be free. Nothing will ever hurt you again. The children gasped in awe as the eagle took flight and soared through the sky until it reached the size of a black dot and disappeared from their sight.
